Step 1 Lead-in
T asks Ss to recall what they have learnt in the last lesson by asking the following questions.
? What are the changes in the ways people get news?
? What are the reasons for the popularity of online news media?
【设计意图:该部分为复习导入环节,通过头脑风暴,激活学生对于“网上新闻媒体”这一话题已有的知识和经验,为下一环节做铺垫。】
Step 2 Discussion in pairs
1. T asks Ss to think about the following three questions alone and then discuss with their partners.
? What is the current situation of online news media?
? What are the advantages and disadvantages of online news media?
? How will online news media change in the future? Why?
2. T helps Ss accumulate some useful expressions to describe advantages and disadvantages.

Step 3 Preparing for writing
1. T asks Ss to read the information in part D on page 10 and answer the following questions.
(1) Learning about the structure
Introduction: give information on the current situation of online news media.
Main body: state advantages and disadvantages of online news media.
Conclusion: predict the future of online news media.
(2) Learning about writing techniques
·How can we avoid repetition in our writing? (Use different expressions)
①T asks Ss to read the sentence patterns used to talk about popularity of online news media.
②T asks Ss to use different sentence patterns to talk about either of the following two topics.

Step 4 Writing and revising
1. Writing a draft
T asks Ss to write an article about online news media. Meanwhile, T encourages Ss to apply what they have learned in this period to use.
2. Self-review
(1) T leads Ss to revise their own writing in terms of the six aspects:

(2) T leads Ss to revise their own writing considering the following questions:
? What expressions do you use to avoid repetition?
? How can you improve your writing?
3. Peer review
T guides Ss to exchange their writings and do some peer review considering the following questions:
? What does your partner think of the structure of your writing?
? What suggestions does your partner give to improve your writing?
